Update

I have decided to create a place where people can go to get updates on my mother, Shirley Dailey. This blog will also be a good place for people to post messages for her and the family. Since finding out the news, Shirley and the family have received an overwhelming and touching response. We all truly appreciate the prayers, words of comfort, and support. Please continue to pray. Shirley had her first round of chemo on Tuesday. Thursday was a very good day for her. She was feeling better .... no headaches and more energy.

  2. I think this post is a wonderful idea. When words are spoken they are often remembered in a good way or a bad way or sometimes they are forgotten altogether. Written words seem to capture moments and thoughts that can be revisited time and time again. I hope that Shirley realizes the lives that she has touched and how many people that she has inspired. I pray often that she may find some form of peace and comfort on the days that seem intolerable and that on the good days she is able to enjoy the things that mean the most to her. I think that sometimes people take for granted the small hills that take no effort for them to climb while others view them as mountains to great to even approach. "To love someone deeply gives you strength. Being loved by someone deeply gives you courage" Lao Tzu.
May you find the courage to make it through each day as you are loved very deeply.

  4. Shirley,

You have constantly been in my thoughts since I heard about your news. Please remember that so many of us love you and continue to remember you in our prayers. The power of prayer is so great and I know that God is always faithful to hear each of our prayers and requests........and my prayers for you now are that He will touch you in a special way and give you His strength. You have always been so courageous and determined and I am assured that God will give you His Peace and His Love for this "journey" each day.

I want to share with you a poem and I hope it will be special for you as it was for me.

    What Cancer Cannot Do

    Cancer is so limited. . . . .
    It cannot cripple Love
    It cannot shatter Hope
    It cannot corrode Faith
    It cannot destroy Peace
    It cannot kill Friendship
    It cannot suppress Memories
    It cannot silence Courage
    It cannot invade the Soul
    It cannot steal Eternal Life
    It cannot conquer the Spirit

  6. Hi Shirley,
I hope you are feeling better. I know the treatments are hard on your body, dealing with the after effects and all. We miss you at work. I am praying for you everyday. If there is anything I can do for you or your family, please let me know. Just give me a call if you need anything. Send me a list of your favorite foods or something you would enjoy eating right now. Lots of love & prayers, Theresa
