Post 7th round update

Mom had her seventh round of chemo last Thursday. As I mentioned in a prior post, Mom's leg has been causing her a great deal of pain. She spoke with her doctor about it. The doctor indicated that they could stop the chemo and pursue radiation or they could try to cope with it as best they could for the next few weeks until the scheduled chemo is complete. Mom decided to up her pain meds and to try to hold out until after her scheduled 8 rounds of chemo. She will have her 8th round on July 6th. At some point during the days after that round, Mom should have another PET scan of her entire body and an MRI on her leg. She and the doctors will decide where to go from there. They may want to do radiation on the leg. They may put her on a maintenance type drug and give her a break from the chemo. Mom is just focusing on getting through this next round of chemo. This past round made her sick Saturday and Sunday. The pain meds have helped some with the pain, but they also make her drowsy. She is resting alot and trying to stay off her leg. Her spirits and faith remain strong. I know that she feels a peace only God can give. Please continue to keep her in your prayers. Please, in your own way, let her know that you are still thinking of her. Thanks so much. God Bless!

  1. Hi Shirley,
I have been thinking about you so much. I was unable to connect to internet for a while because we took all of our family to Seagrove Beach and did not have connection there........but we all had such a great time being together. It was good to be with our entire family.....which is a rare occassion when we can get everyone together. And, the beaches were very nice.....no oil spill had come into Seagrove. Of course, don't know about today. A tragic situation for all.
Shirley, you are so courageous to continue with your chemo......I know that it has to be very hard.......but you have such a strong faith and that alone helps in a way that others can never understand. God can truly bring Peace when we are going thru our tough moments. I will be anxious to know what your PET Scan and also the MRI shows.
Jim and I both pray for you every day and we will continue......and we all know that there is such Power in Prayer and we know without a doubt that God works in wondrous ways. We cannot comprehend His Great Power of Healing but we must Believe and we know that he also works thru the doctors. I believe that He has provided them for us and He works thru them to help us.
Shirley, please remember that we think of you so often and love you dearly.
I pray that you feel God's Healing Power working within you every day and that you also feel His Presence and His Peace. We know that He is the Great Healer. We must Keep Believing.

Shirley, may God bless you and keep you in His Loving Care. ✟
    with much love and prayers,
    betty rigsby
